Landscaping with Vegetables

Yesterday mom came over for a chat with cinnamon rolls from the bakery (thanks again mom!). On her way out she noticed this little guy by the steps.

"Is that a cucumber?"

I of course had never noticed it, always paying more attention to the rotting siding above it.

So stay tuned...
In a few weeks we'll learn the identity of the mystery plant!

I do hate to rain on the parade, but I'm pretty sure that's a weed. If it sprouts pinkish flowers, pull it.

I'm with Beth on that one...looks like what my neighbor calls "Creeping Charlie" (though it's not like the "Creeping Charlie" I remember as a kid) and it will invade EVERYTHING. We are battling it all over our back yard right now.

funnily enough I discovered a plant identical to this, this evening in our backyard and was wondering what it is. It cropped up in the same spot as the horseradish last year but it has such different leaves that it must be something else. Based on Heather's advice, I think I'll pull ours out tomorrow...

Try this: cut it, dry it, and smoke it. If you experience mild euphoria and an increased appetite, I think we will know the identity of your mystery plant!

Glad you enjoyed the rolls. We need to do it again.

I wouldn't be so hasty to pull. Wait and see - looks squashish from my angle.
