Sorry... gotta disagree with you here. The best thing that can happen to that structure is a controlled demolition.
It's always so sad when a historical structure is lost. It feels like American's are always for demolition, and we're left with modern structures with very little character or beauty; whereas other areas of the world find a way to keep their structures for hundreds of years.
If it's not economical, it's not worth saving...right?
